ISO 15118-20 NEXT GENERATION ELECTRIC VEHICLE COMMUNICATION CONTROLLER
As of June 2026, SMG’s Next Gen EVCC passed the extensive live interoperability ISO 15118-20 testing gates on high-power Heliox depot infrastructure. Our solution is ready for the challenges of grid interaction and post-quantum cryptographic security. SMG’s Next Gen EVCC offers flexible, high-speed vehicle integration through either CAN-FD, CAN-XL or Automotive Ethernet (10BASE-T1S) lines. Built to meet ISO 26262 ASIL-B functional safety standards, the Next Gen EVCC features a dedicated EdgeLock® Secure Enclave for certificate isolation and a hardware Cortex-M33 Safety Island for secure overcharge protection. Enclosed in a compact, vibration-resistant, IP67-rated cast aluminum housing, the EVCC functions natively on 9V–36V industrial electrical systems. Built with state-of-the-art processor, memory, post-quantum cryptography and software stack, this device will be supported for 10+ years without end-of-life concerns.
EVSE Charging Partners
SMG’s EVCC has carried out millions of charging sessions with supply equipment providers ABB, Siemens, Heliox, Delta, Chargepoint, Optigrid, BTC, and Kenpower. SMG can support integration with other charging partners at your request.

SMG’S EVCC CATALOG
Legacy Electric Vehicle Communication Controller
SMG’s Legacy EVCC is a field-proven charge controller that has served as the baseline charging gateway for New Flyer and MCI since 2021. Built to manage standard ISO 15118-2, DIN SPEC 70121 and SAE J3105 protocols, it has adapted seamlessly to changing demands for power and capabilities over the past five years. The Legacy EVCC utilizes the NXP i.MX 6 applications processor paired with a low-power ARM Cortex-M0 co-processor dedicated to physical layer timing. The system operates on a standard Linux platform, backed by legacy DDR3 memory. Vehicular data routing is managed via dual-channel standard SAE J1939 CAN networks operating at up to 500 kbps to communicate with various customers’ Battery Management Systems.
